I am Vanessa Castro, an artist and writer. Currently, I live in Alameda County and grew up in the Bay Area. I graduated from the University of California,  Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in Education.

I've always loved drawing, painting, and writing with lots of colors and  great enthusiasm. The mediums I use are markers, pastels, and acrylic paints. I wrote and illustrated two children's books, "Gloria, The Gecko Attendant," and "Rollerblading on Autism." My children's books are to designed to educate kids about different disabilities.

I am very independent and determined. Once I put my mind to do something,  I always get it accomplished.  It may take me 3-5 weeks to finish a painting, but I always get it done.

I am drawn to painting super heroes because I want to teach children that even though one may have a disability or something unique about them, everyone has their own super power.
